The Comma Partners team.

Virginia Hicks

Virginia has run Comma Partners since it was set up in 2007. Previously Virginia was an independent communications consultant with Unilever and Network Rail. Her early career was in sponsorship, PR and marketing until she specialised in internal communications with Thorn (owner of Radio Rentals) and then with GSK’s manufacturing division before moving to Marks & Spencer as the company’s first head of internal communication. Virginia is also a mentor for communications practitioners and runs a series of learning and development events for her network of interims.

Colette Dorward and Philippa Anderson

Members of the Advisory Panel for Comma Partners are Colette Dorward and Philippa Anderson.

Colette was formerly owner of Comma Consulting which founded Comma Partners. Colette has had a long career in strategic communications with Wolf Ollins, Smythe Dorward Lambert which she co-founded and later with Mercer Delta. She and Virginia worked together at Marks & Spencer in 2004 during the takeover threat from Philip Green, the change of CEO and subsequent strategic review before joining forces at Comma Partners. Colette is now the National Manager of Consulting for the National Trust.

Philippa has a long career in writing and strategic communications with clients from Barclays to Tesco, including a period working in South-East Asia. Philippa has undertaken several interim positions through Comma Partners including communications for large change programmes at Coca - Cola and British Gas. She has written a number of business books, including the co-authoring of Beyond Business with Lord Browne, former CEO of BP. Philippa and Virginia have worked together on several occasions with blue-chip clients.

Maxie Knowles

Making things happen for Comma Partners is Maxie Knowles who has extensive experience in client liaison and account handling as well as office and event management.

Sharon Lalljee

And supporting Comma Partners on various projects is Sharon Lalljee who has specialised in employee engagement and change management communications for 13 years. Her experience includes the development, implementation and measurement of communication strategies in high profile organisations across retail, telecoms and financial services. Formerly Head of Employee Communication at BAA Gatwick, Sharon is now pursuing a range of interests including consultancy, training and writing in Europe and the UK.

Alison Boothby

Offering marketing and editorial support throughout the year, Alison brings a wealth of experience to the team having spent 25 years in the professional services recruitment market. Alison now works freelance providing copywriting, PR and general marketing communications support to growing businesses.
